Cranberry Woods is the newest log home development from Joe and Carolyn Weaver and Elk River Log Homes, Inc. Their first development, Timbercrest, was begun in 2005 and is almost built out with only three lots remaining. Their vision for Cranberry Woods continues and expands upon their success at Timbercrest: the feeling of a charming village, with well built rustic homes in wooded settings including larger lots, a nature park, timber-frame picnic pavilion, nature trail, mountain springs and waterfalls. A key element of the vision for Cranberry Woods is the preservation of the natural environment. This includes minimal cutting of trees at house sites and protection of native flora such as rhododendrons and laurels. As a result, privacy is enhanced by using these natural buffers in concert with pre-designated home sites. Another key element, the atmosphere of a village, is created by using local rustic and natural materials and by keeping close to the architectural style of eighteenth century American log homes. Details such as hand hewn logs, handmade entry doors, antique stained glass windows, and massive native stone fireplaces reinforce the feeling of living in a simpler place and time. |
